Ingredients

  • 1 pound pretzel twists Snyder’s sourdough hard pretzels recommended
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons mustard powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional, for heat

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 275°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place pretzels in a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together oil, honey, both mustards, mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne if using.
  4. Pour the honey-mustard mixture over the pretzels and toss gently but thoroughly until evenly coated.
  5. Spread the pretzels in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, stir, then return to oven for another 15 minutes until the coating sets and pretzels are lightly toasted.
  7. Allow to cool completely before serving; they will crisp up as they cool.

Notes

For a spicier kick, double the cayenne and add red pepper flakes. To make them sweeter, add a tablespoon of brown sugar before baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
