Ingredients

  • 24 oz smoked kielbasa (or other smoked sausage)
  • 2 cups BBQ sauce (your favorite tomato-based variety)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

Equipment

  • 6-quart slow cooker
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing Spoon

Method

  1. Lightly coat a 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray for easier cleanup.
  2. Cut smoked kielbasa into uniform 1/2-inch rounds. Place all slices into the slow cooker.
  3. Add BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, and brown sugar to the sausage in the slow cooker.
  4. Stir well to coat all sausage pieces evenly in the BBQ mixture. Cover with lid.
  5. Cook on LOW for 2 hours or HIGH for 1 hour, stirring halfway through if possible. The sauce will bubble and thicken as the sausage heats through.
  6. Switch to WARM setting to keep hot during serving. Serve directly from the slow cooker with toothpicks for easy snacking.

Notes

Pro Tips: Use your favorite BBQ sauce—sweet, smoky, or spicy. If your BBQ sauce is very sweet, reduce brown sugar to 2 tablespoons. Avoid mustard-based sauces for best flavor. These bites are fully cooked and just need to heat through, so don’t overcook.
Serving Idea: Serve as an appetizer with toothpicks or over rice for an easy dinner. Great alongside mac and cheese, coleslaw, or cornbread.
